Six Baltimore natives were chosen to participate in a 10-day social entrepreneurship program hosted by Red Bull that will take place in the city next month, the first time the series will take place outside of the U.S.
In all, 14 entrepreneurs from across the U.S. were selected for the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy scheduled for Aug. 11-20 at Eubie Blake Cultural Center.
The participants were selected out of a pool of 250 applications nationwide, the energy drink company announced Monday.
Red Bull Amaphiko Academy was created to support social entrepreneurs through 10 days of lectures, workshops, collaboration and coaching sessions and business simulations with change makers from across the country. A number of free public events are also part of the program.
This is the first time the academy will be held in the U.S. since it was founded in 2014. It has previously been held in South Africa three times, and twice in Brazil.
